During his 16 years in the NBA, Tracy McGrady had to fight against plenty of great players in one-on-one moments.
Today, he believes that one guard rises above the rest.
Speaking to Ones Basketball League, via Kyrie Center on Twitter, McGrady said that Kyrie Irving is the best guard in the league when it comes to one-on-one possessions.
“I think there are a handful of guards that I think are must-see TV in one-v-one… but to me, it’s Kyrie [Irving],” McGrady said.
Tracy McGrady says Kyrie is the best 1v1 guard in the league:

McGrady also mentioned Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, De’Aaron Fox, and Bradley Beal as guards who can put up quite a fight when they are facing off against one opponent.
But Irving is the best to the best according to McGrady.
He’s not the only one who believes this.
For years now, people have called Irving one of the smartest, most intense, and intimidating guards in the Association.
You can see it again and again as he outsmarts and outmaneuvers other players.
The man has incredible handles at 31 years old and can still produce some important clutch plays for his team.
During his first few months with the Dallas Mavericks, Irving averaged 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Those are great numbers and also remarkably consistent when compared to his last few seasons.
It was a good start for Irving, although the team still fell short of their goals.
Dallas fans are hoping 2023-24 will be much better.
If the team succeeds, it won’t just be because of Luka Doncic.
Instead, it’ll also be because Irving plays like his iconic self and is able to sail past his opponents.
That means plenty of great one-on-one moments for the eight-time All-Star.
