The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have a true workhorse running back right now.
And while they need a quarterback in the worst way, they might choose to get their bellcow back in the first round of the NFL Draft.
According to a report by Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Steelers will host UNC star RB Omarion Hampton for a visit.

After letting Najee Harris go, the Steelers only have Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell, and Hampton would be a significant upgrade over all of them, at least on paper.
He’s widely considered the second-best running back in this class behind Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, and he’s projected to be gone in the first round as well.
He logged a whopping 1,660 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns last season.
That campaign followed another strong effort in 2023 when he rushed for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns.
He’s also a very proficient pass-catcher, and he figures to be an every-down back at the next level.
He wowed scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.46-second 40-yard dash and a 1.54-second 10-yard split.
The Steelers will be on the clock at No. 21 and might have to consider taking a quarterback regardless of Aaron Rodgers’ decision, assuming he’s made up his mind by then.
But given his potential as a true workhorse running back and their evident need for improvement at the position, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see Omar Khan take Hampton in the first round if he’s still available by the time they’re on the clock.
