Undoubtedly, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is the NFL’s most outstanding winner.
He has won seven Super Bowls and collected three Most Valuable Player awards.
He’s still playing at a high level, even if he’s been in the league for over two decades.
However, there’s no secret to his formula for success.
First, he takes care of his body through workouts and a strict diet.
Likewise, he knows that being surrounded by great players helps him win championships.
Brady ensures that he’s getting top talent by taking less money.
Last season, Brady had a base salary of $1,075,000 and a cap hit of $10.5 million.
In 2022, he will have roughly the same base salary ($1,120,000).
Those values allowed the Buccaneers to re-sign Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette to three-year extensions.
But as ESPN’s Field Yates shared, Brady isn’t done ensuring that they could bring in more players to help their cause.
Tom Brady’s updated cap number after his contract restructure: $11.896M.
Tampa Bay now has more resources for 2022 to sign their draft class and potentially work through remaining free agents, including their own (e.g.: Gronk, Suh).

Yates tweeted, “Tom Brady’s updated cap number after his contract restructure: $11.896M. Tampa Bay now has more resources for 2022 to sign their draft class and potentially work through remaining free agents, including their own (e.g., Gronk, Suh).”
Rob Gronkowski initially hinted that he would like to play with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
With Brady back, there’s no doubt that he will stay in Tampa Bay for the right amount.
Likewise, Suh pointed out that he wants to return during his congratulatory message for new head coach Todd Bowles.
Brady Isn’t New To Sacrificing Money
While quarterbacks could command serious money, Brady always put the team’s welfare first by taking less, even with the New England Patriots.
In 2019, he signed a one-year, $23 million deal to remain in Foxborough.
That value is less than the prevailing price tag for quarterbacks at around $35 million annually.
Therefore, Brady’s primary key to victory is in ensuring that everyone gets their money.
