The Dallas Cowboys made one drastic change during this NFL offseason, with the storied NFL franchise deciding to release veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott after seven seasons with the team.
With Tony Pollard quickly becoming one of the best backs in the league, Elliott became expendable in Dallas, even though he scored 12 touchdowns for the team last season.
As a Pro Bowler and one of the team’s best players, the Cowboys decided to move forward with Pollard as their lead back, and few questioned the team’s move to do so.
Although the team hasn’t ruled out bringing back Elliott, who remains unsigned as a free agent, Dallas may be planning on making a big move in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Todd McShay.

There are a lot of talented running backs in the draft this year, but Bijan Robinson sits at the top of a lot of NFL mock drafts as the first running back expected to be off the board on April 27.
With Robinson expected to go pretty high in the first round of the draft, the Cowboys would likely have to trade up from No. 26, as the University of Texas star could go much higher.
It’ll be interesting to see if Jerry Jones and company are willing to give up some draft capital to move up to grab Robinson and avoid a team like the Los Angeles Chargers getting him earlier in the first round.
Ironically enough, the Cowboys drafted Elliott in the first round, taking him fourth overall in 2016, so history might repeat itself here.
