Fate smiled on Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles when head coach Bruce Arians retired.
The retirement would fast-track Bowles into the head coaching position with the team.
He now has a second chance as an NFL head coach with a team that’s built for a playoff run.
While other teams needed coaches because of poor performances, Bowles’ job comes from a championship team.
The Buccaneers aren’t a team that’s rebuilding or struggling.
They are a team ready to win another championship.
Wow. What a week for me in the NFL. Tom Brady says he’s back. Bucs make move after move to load up for another championship run. Packers fans are down bad. And the cherry on top Deshaun decides not to come to the NFC South and give my team hell for the next decade. Life is good. https://t.co/kmn2sGEFuH

You can rarely find playoff or championship teams that need to replace their head coach.
However, when Arians retired, it gave Bowles this golden opportunity with the Bucs.
Bucs Gives Bowles His Best Chance At Success
When Bowles got his first head coaching job in New York with the Jets, it was with a team with few star players.
He lead that team to a 10-6 record in his first season there.
I disagree. Bowles is in a much better situation now than when he coached the Jets and he still went 10-6 his first year in NY. Building good defenses has never been a problem for Bowles, and now he has Byron and Brady running a potentially monster of an offensive next year.

The Jets wouldn’t make the playoffs that season despite his efforts.
His next three years with the Jets were disappointing.
He never had another winning record again with the Jets.
But the Buccaneers aren’t the Jets as they have star players on offense and defense.
Tom Brady, Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin are the stars on the Bucs offense.
They can turn any game around and have shouldered the team in the past.
The group he had in New York can’t compare to Tampa Bay.
Bowles Working Relationship With The Bucs Helps Him In Head Coaching Position
Bowles has been with the Bucs for three years coaching their defense.
The time with the team has allowed him to build bonds with the players.
Those bonds are important.
He needs those bonds moving forward as the head coach of the team now.
They know what he expects from them, as he also knows what they can give him out on the field.
Both sides won’t have to worry about having to learn a new system.
Everything is already in place for Bowles with the Bucs.
New NFL head coaches envy this.
Those coaches don’t have the luxury of chemistry as Bowles has with the Buccaneers team.
Can He Take The Bucs To The Super Bowl In His First Year?
Even though the team is set up for him, he still needs to help make the right play calls and player substitutions.
He needs to continue game planning every week for each team.
Just because he has Brady and company doesn’t guarantee instant success.
While they give him the best chances of winning every Sunday, they still need a leader for the team.
Bowles has to keep up his success from the defensive side he had the past two seasons with the Bucs.
If he keeps up what he’s been doing with the defense in Tampa, he has a chance at the Super Bowl.
All he will need to do is let Brady and Byron Leftwich handle the offensive play-calling for the team.
