The Oklahoma City Thunder have been on the verge of true greatness for the last few years.
They have some of the best young stars in the league but they have yet to break through the competition and have a strong presence in the postseason.
Some people believe they are missing one last star player, who should be acquired via a trade.
Speaking to Steve Aschburner, via ThunderFocus, Mark Daigneault spoke about that idea.
Claiming that it’s “a Sam [Presti] question,” Daigneault said, “We’re very excited about our existing young core.”
Daigneault went on: “That doesn’t mean we’ll never pursue external things. You’ve got to keep your eye on that, and Sam does. But we also value this group and the continuity they’re building together.”
Mark Daigneault when asked about “adding a piece from outside to complete the puzzle”
“That’s a Sam [Presti] question. But we’re very excited about our existing young core. And last year was the first example of the power of continuity. Not only for us, but you look at Denver,… pic.twitter.com/loOnj7x7Kb

Daigneault mentioned the Denver Nuggets in his comment, saying that they were finally able to win the Finals because they focused on team continuity.
They have built something special over the years and did not only rely on trades to make their roster better.
It sounds like that is the same approach Daigneault wants to take.
But will Presti, the team’s general manager, want the same?
The problem with a team like the Thunder is that their potential is so exciting but also frustrating in ways.
The fans and players know they are very close to being playoff contenders.
Do they enhance the team by just giving it time or do they try to make trades and acquire big talent that can help them win now?
Presti is sitting on a lot of trade assets in the form of draft picks.
Will he spend them to grab an A-list star to play alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, and the rest of the team?
Or will he follow Daigneault’s approach and let the team naturally mature and find success via continuity?
