3 Things The 76ers Must Ask For In A Ben Simmons Trade

There is a lot of drama brewing between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers.

The two parties are in the middle of a stalemate.

This is because Simmons has demanded a trade from the 76ers and stated that he will not be playing another game with the organization.

Players from the 76ers tried to fly out to California to talk Simmons out of this move, however, he told them to turn around.

With all of this information becoming public, it makes it much harder for the 76ers to try to trade him.

Simmons’ offseason antics along with his poor playoff performance has thoroughly tanked his trade value and made this situation so much worse for everyone involved.

“When you talk to people close to Ben, I say, ‘Okay, worst-case scenario it takes all year. Would he sit all year?’ And the answer right now is: ‘Yes.’”

The 76ers front office will have their work cut out for them if they want to deal Simmons from the team before the beginning of the season and get a deal that is worth their while out of it.

There are three things that the 76ers have to ask for in a Simmons trade.

3. Young Talent

The first thing that the 76ers need to get out of this trade is some young talent.

There is a good chance that things could really go south for the organization and Joel Embiid is the next player on his way out of Philly.

He is at the point of his career where he does not want to have to carry a team that has no chance of making noise in the postseason and that could be the shape the 76ers are in after a Simmons trade if they are not able to get a favorable deal.

Even if they do not keep the young talent they receive from the trade on the roster, they would be able to shop those players for veterans who can help the team right now.

2. A Player to Co-Star Alongside Joel Embiid

The second thing the 76ers must look for in a Simmons trade is a star to put alongside Embiid.

As previously mentioned, if they 76ers make the wrong deal, Embiid may be right behind Simmons in terms of leaving the team.

If they are able to get another All-Star-caliber player to pair Embiid with, 76ers fans should feel much better about the future of their team.

If they are able to get an elite guard like Bradley Beal or Damian Lillard, it would be the best-case scenario for the 76ers.

However, with how far Simmons has tanked his own trade value, the odds of this actually being pulled off are slim to none.

In a perfect world for Philly fans though, this would be something that is achievable.

1. Draft Capital

The final thing that the 76ers have to ask for in a Simmons trade is draft capital.

There are two reasons behind this.

The first being that if Embiid leaves the team, they will have a head start on the second rendition of The Process.

However, if they are able to convince Embiid to stay in Philly, the draft capital can be packaged together with some of the young talent they are also asking for.

This may be able to land them a second or third star to add to the team.
