The ninth inning of the game between the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates was the stuff of a great baseball movie.
The Yanks got to the inning down 8-4, but Aaron Judge immediately homered to make it 8-5.
Anthony Rizzo doubled to center field, Gleyber Torres followed with a walk, and Josh Donaldson singled to load the bases with no outs.
Here is the best part: Giancarlo Stanton hit a laser grand slam to left field to earn an impressive walk-off 9-8 win.
Pirates pitcher Wil Crowe couldn’t even get an out and conceded two home runs and five runs in total.
It was yet another walk-off win for the team with the most walk-off wins in baseball.
“Yankees have 15 walkoff wins this season. That’s the most in MLB and 4 more than any other team,” MLB stats guru Katie Sharp tweeted.

A Flair For The Dramatic
It looks like the 2022 Yanks have a flair for the dramatic.
The walk-off win gave them an 89-58 record and a comfy 5.5-game cushion in the American League East division.
The job is still not done: they need to clinch their playoff berth, then the AL East.
After that, the playoffs will be the first (and only) thing on their minds for some time.
For the franchise, reaching the World Series should be the number one objective.
They haven’t won it since 2009, which was also the last time they went to it.
The entire Yankees nation is hopeful that the 2022 team is good enough to challenge for the title.
The team left some doubts about that with their second-half performance, but as long as they are in, they will always have a chance.
