The New York Yankees have been on a slide of epic proportions over the last few weeks.
New York is currently on a nine-game losing streak, their longest such streak since the 1982 season.
However, it has been even longer since the Yankees have been on a 10-game losing streak.
That took place from May 21-June 6 of 1913.
One more loss and the Yankees will have tied that dubious mark.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale pointed out that to have been alive for their losing skid in 1913, you would have to be at least 110 years of age, illustrating just how long it’s been and how close the Yankees are to matching that mark.
The last time the #Yankees had a 9-game losing streak, only two active players today were even alive: Rich Hill and Adam Wainwright.
The last time the Yankees had a 10-game losing streak?
You would have to be 110 years old today to have witnessed it:

Nightengale also notes that back in 1982, when the Yankees had their last nine-game skid, only two current MLB players were alive.
St. Louis Cardinals legend and two-time World Series champion Adam Wainwright was only a year old.
San Diego Padres veteran left-hander Rich Hill was only two years old.
Needless to say, it’s been a long time since the Yankees have had such a long losing streak, and it’s been even longer since they had a losing streak of 10 games or more.
However, as previously noted, the Yankees are on the verge of tying this unfortunate mark from the 1913 season.
Their current record is 60-65 and they sit in last place in the American League East, 17 games out of first.
They’re also 10.5 back in the Wild Card race and are on track to have their first losing season since all the way back in 1992.
