The New York Yankees have had a rough second half, and that’s not a secret to anybody.
However, they haven’t lost this week and took the first three games against the Minnesota Twins, plus the last one of the weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
They played a Wednesday doubleheader with the Twins, taking both games: the first one, though, ended with a walk-off hit by rookie Oswaldo Cabrera.
Oswaldo Cabrera is the 4th Yankees player in the Expansion Era (since 1961) with both an outfield assist and a walk-off hit in extra innings of the same game. He joins:

– Joe Pepitone in 1967

Evidently, the young utilityman came through his arm and with his bat in the first leg of the doubleheader.
The Yankees Have A Knack For The Dramatic
It’s yet another walk-off win in a season full of them for the Yanks.
“The Yankees’ 14 walk-off wins this season is their most in a season since 2009, the last year they won the World Series, when they had 15,” ESPN Stats & Info tweeted to complement their earlier message.

The last time the Yanks earned this many walk-off victories, they ended up celebrating their 27th title.
Perhaps it’s a good omen for them as we head to the stretch run and the postseason.
They are still leading the AL East division by five games, with an 83-54 mark.
The Rays keep winning games, though, so the Yankees can’t take their foot off the gas and relax.
That’s not an option if they want to secure a first-round bye in the postseason.
They are still one of the best and most dangerous teams in baseball.
