The Chicago White Sox made some interesting headlines last week when Jerry Reinsdorf fired President Ken Williams and General Manager Rick Hahn.
For the past week, the team has been searching for somebody new to take over baseball operations.
Assistant GM Chris Getz was one of the names mentioned as a potential replacement.
As it turns out, the White Sox will be promoting their next GM internally, and Getz has been tapped with the responsibilities.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale of USA Today announced the news of the decision to promote Getz, while also revealing his title as he takes over baseball operations.

Getz’s official title is senior vice president/general manager.
With Hahn and Williams at the helm, the White Sox began to deteriorate and were falling short of expectations.
Williams and Hahn were ultimately fired last week.
The White Sox were expected to be a clear contender this season after signing Andrew Benintendi and Mike Clevinger to strengthen their roster.
However, things went south very quickly for the White Sox, who now are 53-81 on the season and will soon be officially eliminated from postseason contention.
The South Siders finished .500 last season, and they’ll have to win all the rest of their games in order to reach that mark, which is highly unlikely.
But Getz may provide the team with a fresh voice in the front office and ultimately help turn things around so the team can contend again in 2024 and beyond.
The White Sox last reached the postseason in 2021.
