The team, featuring Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, touched down in Tokyo the other day as they prepare for a preseason game against the Washington Wizards.
Curry seemed happy to be there, saying he was “ready to go” and “locked in.”
The Warriors and Wizards are playing in Japan to spread global awareness about the NBA and it seems like they are doing a good job at that.
A Global Game
The preseason game between the Warriors and Wizards doesn’t really count for much.
It doesn’t have an actual impact on the regular season or the teams’ records.
However, it does mean a lot for the future of the league.
This preseason match overseas is just the latest move by the NBA to expand its reach across the world and influence and engage with more fans.
There were crowds of people to greet the Warriors when they landed, showing that the team -and the game – really has many fans in Japan and abroad.
There will be more foreign games by NBA teams in the months ahead, including a few in Mexico City.
All of this is attracting more young fans and players all over the world.
There are quite a few NBA superstars who have come from different corners of the world.
Preseason games like this one in Japan could inspire someone who will rule the league in a couple of decades.
