The Minnesota Twins have so far been the best team in a weak American League Central division.
As of now, they are the only team in the division with a winning record or a positive run differential.
Dating back to last Thursday in St. Louis, the Twins have won five consecutive games and are now six games over the .500 mark at 60-54.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians, who sold at the trade deadline, continue to slip in the standings and now sit five games under the .500 mark at 54-59.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale pointed out that the Twins may be getting hot at just the right time.
The Minnesota #Twins, after 5 consecutive victories, now have 2nd-biggest division lead in #MLB at 5.5 games.

By no means is the American League Central a division with powerhouse teams.
However, the Twins appear to be taking advantage of their place in a weak division, and have now won five games in a row.
The Twins last reached the postseason back in 2020, winning the AL Central and earning the third seed in the American League.
They have finished below the .500 mark in back-to-back seasons.
Last year, they led the division for most of the season, but a September collapse took them out of postseason contention.
This year, the Twins appear to be the team to beat in the Central.
Nightengale also noted that the Twins now have the second-largest division lead of any team in baseball.
Minnesota is 5.5 games ahead of the Guardians.
In the NL East, the Atlanta Braves lead the Philadelphia Phillies by 10 games.
Sooner or later, Minnesota may run away with the division.
