The Portland Trail Blazers have been making headlines on a daily basis this summer, with the team being forced to trade superstar guard Damian Lillard, who recently requested a trade.
With the Blazers actively looking for a trade partner for Lillard, which looks like it may ultimately be the Miami Heat, the team hasn’t really made a lot of moves outside of drafting Scoot Henderson No. 3 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, and re-signing Jerami Grant to a massive contract.
Although the Lillard watch continues with no telling when a deal may get done, the front office in Portland must deal with the latest player wanting to get out.
According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Matisse Thybulle will sign an offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks, which the Blazers can match.

At one point in Thybulle’s career, he was an important role player for the Philadelphia 76ers and was making a name for himself as one of the league’s best defenders.
Unfortunately for Thybulle, the 76ers grew tired of him not being able to take his game to the next level, as he had become a liability on the basketball floor, leaning Philadelphia to trade him to the Blazers.
His minutes per game (27.7) increased drastically in Portland, with the team deciding to make him a starter, which also impacted his shooting from deep as he finished the season shooting 38.8% from beyond the arc in 22 games for the Blazers.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Blazers decide to match this offer from the Mavericks and whether they want him around for the foreseeable future.
