The Houston Texans are giving quarterback Davis Mills one final chance to prove himself on the NFL gridiron.
Mills was picked in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the team.

In his two full years as the Stanford starting quarterback, Mills had a 65.5 completion percentage, threw for 3,468 yards, and added 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Although his college stats certainly were not the most noteworthy, the Texans took a chance on Mills, and have given him multiple opportunities to succeed.
Mills’ NFL Track Record
In 21 total games as the Texans’ starter, Mills has a record of 3-17-1.
He has led them to a prime position to hold the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Will the opportunity to start giving the Texans increased confidence in Mills, and be convinced to not draft his replacement at first overall?
It’s not likely.
In his 21 games, Mills has completed passes at a 64.5 percent rate, throwing for 4,808 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions.
Up to this point, Mills hasn’t inspired confidence in his ability to compete at the highest level.
The Texans have looked to Kyle Allen at quarterback for the past two weeks, benching Mills.
However, Allen is 0-2 in this time frame, throwing for just 416 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions in these two games.
Rolling out Mills on Sunday is a win-win scenario for the Texans.
Mills could play well, and make them re-think their decisions in the upcoming draft.
Or, Mills could play similarly to his NFL performances to date and confirm their thoughts on him.
