The NFL does its best to make the Super Bowl the best sporting event in the world.
They know everyone will be watching, and everything must go smoothly.
Unfortunately, that was not the case for the field surface inside State Farm Stadium.
The surface was an all-grass field, and the NFL spent an astronomical amount of money on it.
Also, it took them two years to prepare the grass for Super Bowl 57.
The NFL has spent two years preparing the grass for tonight's field at the Super Bowl.
The grass was grown at a local sod farm in Phoenix.
It was installed two weeks ago, and the field has been rolled out each morning for daily sunshine.

Yet, the surface was a total disaster for the entire game.
Players on both sides struggled to keep their footing, and plenty of key plays were missed due to someone slipping.
Also, we saw many players had to change cleats, to get thicker spikes to help them stay upright.
Many players had something to say about the field conditions post-game.

You could see countless plays where one of the offensive linemen or edge rushers would fall.
Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick also had some choice words for the field.

It is a shame that some of the talk following this game is about the grass.
Even though both teams had to play on it, the playing surface should never be an issue in an NFL stadium.
This is a terrible look for the NFL, as they spent so much time and money on this grass for no reason.
Even though almost all players prefer to play on grass fields over turf, having a turf surface would have been much better.
It will be interesting to see how the NFL learns from this mistake.
Hopefully, there will be a much better surface in Las Vegas for Super Bowl 58.
