The Kansas City Royals are having a dreadful season, and the hits just keep on coming.
Coming into the season the Royals hoped they would be able to develop their young players.
While that has worked to an extent, they just received awful news on their one young star.
According to Jeff Passan, via Talkin’ Baseball, Vinnie Pasquantino is out for the season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The young slugger showed himself off last season hitting .295 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI in 72 games.
In 61 games of 2023, Pasquantino was hitting .247 with nine home runs and 26 RBI.
He is a rare young player that has elite plate discipline.
In 133 career games, he has struck out 65 times and walked 60.
Unfortunately, the Royals will have to play out the rest of the season without him.
This is already a lost season for KC as they have the fewest wins in baseball.
Their 18-49 record is on pace with some of the worst regular-season records of all time.
Kansas City has been bad for so long that some of their top draft picks from years back are starting to pay dividends.
Bobby Witt Jr. has been very good in his career, and he looks like a perennial All-Star.
The Royals must continue to hit on draft picks and develop players at an elite rate.
If they can do that we might see a quick turnaround in KC led by a team of young stars.
