Remember when the Cincinnati Reds started off the 2022 season with a 3-22 record and finished at 62-100?
Well, those days are now behind us.
They are probably not contenders, not yet at least.
However, it’s fair to say they are now a decent team.
Shall we say… they are a good team?
We might need to see more wins and a positive run differential to officially declare them as such, but they have come a long way since those obscure days of 2022.
They are currently 26-29, with a five-game winning streak and some of their young players developing nicely.
On Wednesday, they also got their 17th comeback win of the year, this time against the Boston Red Sox.

That’s good for second in MLB.
Who would have thought?
The Reds are now comeback kings.
On Wednesday, they were down 3-2 in the seventh inning against the Boston Red Sox, but they scored three runs and flipped the score to 5-3.
A late run by the Sox wasn’t enough to take the victory away from Cincinnati.
The Reds are third in the NL Central.
Do you want to know the best part?
The division has been so mediocre to this point that they are just three (!) games out of first place, currently occupied by the Milwaukee Brewers.
The young guys are taking over the Reds, and they have improved a lot in recent weeks.
Matt McLain took over shortstop, Jonathan India has recovered the form that made him the 2021 Rookie of the Year, and TJ Friedl and Spencer Steer have contributed a lot, too.
When it comes to pitching, the bullpen has been much better than the rotation, but Hunter Greene and comeback story Ben Lively have starred for the latter.
If they manage to find or develop a couple of really good starters, watch out.
