The New Orleans Pelicans have a lot to prove and on Wednesday night they did just that.
New Orleans was once the best team in the West but they have since fallen far and are battling it out with the Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and other teams as they try to earn a spot in the play-in games next month.
The Pelicans have been without their biggest star, Zion Williamson, and many people have written them off.
They were certainly the underdogs on Wednesday night as they faced off against the Dallas Mavericks.
But they ended up with a wonderful win and NBA writer Trevor Lane noted that they have a “super soft schedule to close out the season.”
He added that the Pelicans are “definitely a team to keep an eye on.”
Pelicans beat the Mavs. Pels lost Brandon Ingram to an ankle injury but also have a super soft schedule to close out the season. Definitely a team to keep an eye on.

Wednesday’s win was even more impressive because the team’s second-biggest talent, Brandon Ingram, left in the second quarter with a right ankle sprain.
But the Pelicans were still able to triumph with a 113-106 victory.
Lane is right that the next few weeks are relatively easy for the Pelicans.
They will next face off against the Thunder on Saturday night.
On the way to the end of the regular season on April 9, they will face off against the Houston Rockets twice, the San Antonio Spurs, and Charlotte Hornets, among others.
The majority of their games are at home as well, giving them a better chance of winning.
The Pelicans were a team to keep an eye on last year, as they surged toward the end of the regular season before reaching the playoffs.
Will they be following in their own footsteps this season?
