San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers had a week to remember.
First of all, he closed out the season strong, with a .333/.429/.667 line and two home runs over his last seven games.
His time with the Padres, however, could be close to an end, and the organization made sure to celebrate his contributions to the franchise in the last game of the regular season calendar.
“What a great moment. BoMel arranges Wil Myers to exit game coming off field to allow fans to thank him for his time as a Padre and gets standing ovation. Then a final polaroid. #goosebumps,” San Diego Padres Bally Sports broadcaster Bob Scanlan tweeted.

In January 2017, Myers signed a six-year, $83 million contract with San Diego, avoiding arbitration at the time, including a club option for 2023 worth $20 million.
However, Myers had been with the Padres before then, since landing there via trade from the Tampa Bay Rays before the 2015 season.
Myers Has Had A Very Good Tenure With The Padres
In 2016, the talented outfielder hit 28 home runs, scored 99 runs, drove in 94 runs, and stole 28 bases in a brilliant season.
A year later, he hit 30 homers and stole 20 bases, with the extension already kicking in.
The 2018 and 2019 seasons were a bit more modest for him, but he had a 155 wRC+ (league average is 100) in 2020, with 15 home runs in 55 games.
He was also above-average in 2021 and 2022, and even though this campaign wasn’t his best, he has been hot for well over a month with a .281/.343/.531 line and six long balls over his last 30 games.
Padres fans know he has given a lot to the franchise.
His $20 million option is unlikely to be picked up, but he could return at a lesser salary next year.
That is not a given, though, so Padres fans made sure to thank the outfielder for all his help through the years.
