At one point in early June, the Oakland Athletics were 12-50.
That’s a horrible record, but it happens when ownership and the front office don’t field a competitive team.
However, the unexpected has happened, and the A’s are looking like world beaters at the moment.
Against all odds, they have won seven consecutive games to take their record to 19-50.
It’s still awful, but hey, it’s incredible to see that they have it in them to win close, hotly contested ballgames.
Still, the A’s 2023 season performance is clearly not the players’ fault.
But back to our situation and reality.
With their seven-game winning streak (with the last two games coming against the team with the best record in baseball, the Tampa Bay Rays), the A’s made some cool history.
“On the night of the reverse boycott, the A’s take two in a row against the best team in baseball to extend their win streak to 7 games. They tie the 1895 Louisville Colonels for the longest win streak by any AL/NL team who had a sub-.200 win pct entering the streak (min. 50 GP),” ESPN Stats & Info tweeted.

It was a magical night in Oakland on Tuesday.
More than 27,000 fans gathered in the Oakland Coliseum to show the world that attendance is not the problem.
Ownership is: they have failed to field a competitive team for two years in a row and they haven’t offered fans decent facilities to watch baseball.
They narrowly beat the Rays and the crowd exploded with the last out.
One more win and they will leave behind the Colonels’ old record for a sub-.200 team entering their winning streak.
The world will be rooting for the A’s.
