Ever since losing both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in the middle of last season, the Brooklyn Nets have been in dire need of more shooters and ball-handlers.
On Saturday morning, they got one.
Shams Charania, via NBA on TNT, is reporting that Dennis Smith Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets.
The specifics of the deal weren’t immediately known but it was likely for a veteran minimum contract.

The Nets had a busy night on Friday.
They re-signed Cam Johnson to a much bigger deal, traded away Joe Harris, and also lost both Seth Curry and Yuta Watanabe at the beginning of free agency.
The addition of Smith could be one of their biggest moves of the summer.
The 25-year-old most recently played for the Charlotte Hornets, where he averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on a 41.2% field goal percentage.
Smith wouldn’t likely be a starting guard for the Nets.
Instead, he would be able to give Spencer Dinwiddie backup and assistance and improves the team’s shot creation from off the bench.
If he really wants to help his new team, he will have to hit the gym and work on his three-point shooting.
He shot only 21.6% from beyond the three-point line in 2022-23, which is a career-low.
The Nets are currently in the midst of figuring out their future and the players who will take them into the next era of their history.
They have a few up-and-coming stars, like Dinwiddie and Mikal Bridges leading the way.
With this latest addition, they have added depth to their roster and perhaps given themselves another team leader.
