The Washington Nationals are well out of postseason contention at this point in the season.
However, they have been playing much better baseball as of late.
Since the All-Star break, the Nats are 17-13, which is tied for the third-best record in the National League.
Last year, they received a massive haul from the San Diego Padres at the trade deadline in exchange for Juan Soto.
They added stars such as C.J. Abrams and left-hander MacKenzie Gore in that trade.
The team is set up well for the future after having made such deals.
On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network noted just how well the Nationals have been playing as of late.
The @Nationals are 17-13 since the All-Star break, tied for the third-best record in the NL over that time.
Washington has the youngest position player group in the NL, too.
Can't wait for the Nats and @Phillies to meet in Sunday's @LittleLeague Classic.@MLBNetwork @MLB

Morosi also notes that the Nationals have the youngest position player group in the National League at the moment.
In addition to Abrams, Washington also has Jeter Downs, Stone Garrett, Michael Chavis, Alex Call, and Lane Thomas.
Thomas was acquired in 2021 at the trade deadline in the same deal that sent Jon Lester to St. Louis.
On the catching side, they have Riley Adams and Keibert Ruiz.
These are some very good young players that the Nationals have in tow for the future.
Perhaps soon, a few key free-agent additions could turn the team into the contender it once was before the start of the 2020 season.
The Nationals have a good mix of young talented players who can help the team in the future as they look to come out of their rebuilding phase and contend again.
