The Miami Marlins entered the offseason with one mission: acquiring several impact hitters to complement their elite pitching depth.
While the true quality of the hitters they brought in can be questioned, they did acquire some potentially helpful offensive players.
Luis Arraez, Jean Segura, Jose Iglesias, Yuli Gurriel, and Garrett Hampson are new on the roster, and will try to complement Jazz Chisholm Jr., Bryan De La Cruz, Jesus Sanchez, Jorge Soler, Garrett Cooper, and Avisail Garcia to form a competent offense.
Not all of those hitters are actually good, but some are.
At least some of them have recent performances to justify why they were signed.
“With Arraez and Gurriel Marlins have last two AL batting champions,” MLB insider Jon Heyman tweeted.

Arraez won the batting title in the junior circuit with the Minnesota Twins in 2022, and Gurriel did it with the Houston Astros in 2021.
Arraez doesn’t have much in the way of power, but his high batting average wasn’t a fluke and helps him get some nice OBP numbers.
Gurriel is a veteran whose best days are most likely behind him, but gets to be close to home and in a Latino-heavy clubhouse.
He can still help as a part-time player.
Will the Marlins’ offense be at least decent in 2022?
It remains to be seen, and only time will tell.
Arraez can be a nice asset at the top of the lineup, but they still lack a true top run-producer and power threat.
The Marlins seem ticketed for fourth place in the NL East division.
