The Miami Marlins were up, 2-1, in the ninth inning against the New York Mets on Thursday.
Despite pleas by Marlins manager Skip Schumaker to finish the game that same night (after waiting for the rain delay and preparing the field), the league decided to halt things because of the weather conditions.
The situation could have a heavy toll on the Marlins, who have covered a lot of traveling distance in recent days and will have to return to New York to finish off the Mets game on Monday, per insider Craig Mish.
Marlins will finish their game with the Mets in New York Monday at 1:10 EST if necessary.

The Marlins were up in the ninth and had people on base.
In theory, finishing the game shouldn’t take too long, but there is always the chance it goes to extras.
In all likelihood, the game will be needed for seeding purposes unless the Marlins have a really bad weekend.
As of the moment of writing this piece, on Friday afternoon, they were 82-76, in possession of the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League.
The Chicago Cubs are 82-77, just half a game behind.
The 81-78 Cincinnati Reds are also lurking and haven’t been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
They still have an outside chance but need to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals and hope the Marlins and Cubs are swept in their respective series.
The fight for the Wild Card in the National League is as exciting as ever, and the Marlins might need that Monday result to wrap things up depending on how the weekend goes for them.
