The 2022 season was one full of excitement for the Seattle Mariners.
For the first time since 2001, the team reached the postseason, ending the longest active drought in all of baseball.
Seattle had a record of 90-72 as they secured the second Wild Card in the American League and dusted the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL Wild Card Series.
Unfortunately, Seattle was swept by the Houston Astros in the ALDS.
But one thing that sticks out about the Mariners in 2022 is their pitching.
Led by Logan Gilbert, Luis Castillo, George Kirby, and Robbie Ray, Seattle recorded 1,391 strikeouts, the most in team history.

Mariners Pitching Makes History
Seattle certainly had a season to remember, and their pitching staff carried them on an unforgettable ride.
The signing of Ray during the offseason paid dividends for them, and at the trade deadline, Seattle made yet another impactful move, acquiring Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds.
That’s what helped them secure their place as one of the best pitching teams in all of baseball.
Castillo pitched brilliantly for the Mariners in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series in Toronto.
The Mariners finally had their ace, who is now extended through the next five seasons.
But it was the pitching that helped carry them to the postseason for the first time since 2001, and it was their pitching that kept them alive for as long as they were in Game 3 of the ALDS.
The Mariners have a lot to look forward to in the coming years, and much of it has to do with the pitching staff.
