What will Sean Payton decide to do?
Nobody seems to know the answer to that question.
The New Orleans Saints head coach is reportedly considering retirement even though he is under contract for a few more years.
He has been with the team since 2006 and may just want a year off in general.
Rumors link him to television jobs and even to other open jobs around the NFL.
New Orleans journalist Jeff Duncan provided an update, but not one that gave fans any clarity on the matter.
Sean Payton met with Saints GM Mickey Loomis for a couple of hours on Monday. That's the latest and only news I've got on that front….

So Payton at least met with Saints GM Mickey Loomis.
The organization needs some answers and it’s possible the head coach provided them in the meeting.
But fans remain left in the dark as the Saints could be in for a major transition that was unexpected.
The Rumors Persist
One of the most fascinating rumors surrounding Payton is that he is holding out to potentially get the job in Dallas.
This was even talked about Tuesday morning on ESPN’s Get Up.
Sean Payton to Dallas as head coach? ?
“If I’m a player in that locker room, specifically a QB in that locker room, I’m at Jerry’s front door right now … ‘Please make this happen!’” —@Foxworth24 pic.twitter.com/tYjaV8gZdX

Mike McCarthy remains the head coach in Dallas, at least for now.
Jerry Jones just continues to make curious remarks about the coaching staff even after originally saying no changes would be made.
Ultimately, Payton may just want to step away from the game in general.
Heading to Dallas would only mean more pressure and stress as the team remains desperate for any sort of playoff success.
Remember, Payton is not the one establishing the link to the Cowboys.
The Saints need to figure this out fast because head coaching vacancies will fill up soon.
Payton dragging his feet too long could leave the team in awful shape heading into the 2022 season.
That would not be a great way to leave a franchise where he has been for over 15 years.
