The Los Angeles Lakers had a big, important win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night and D’Angelo Russell was a huge part of it.
Russell posted 21 points and 7 assists in the game and played expertly alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
His return to LA seems to be going very well so far.
Therefore, it’s not a huge surprise to hear that both sides are looking to keep the relationship going for the foreseeable future.

The Lakers and Russell’s representatives will begin discussions about a contract extension in the next few days and weeks, according to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Russell is apparently looking for a four-year deal that brings him around $90 to $100 million.
It’s very likely that the Lakers will agree to that because they see Russell as someone who could be a centerpiece for the team in the future.
Russell will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and the team has made it clear they would like the young player to remain in the City of Angels.
That is especially true after the banner start he’s had over the last week.
The Lakers have had an eye on their future for some time now, especially since James is now 38 years old and someone will have to carry the torch for the team once he retires.
While the front office says that Davis will be the man to lead the team, he works best when he has a strong ball handler to make plays with.
Russell could definitely fit that role.
Both the Lakers and Russell want to work together and the star is lighting up the scoreboard in Los Angeles so you can expect a deal to come together quickly.
