The Los Angeles Lakers have long been one of the most celebrated and beloved franchises in the NBA.
And even though they had some bad seasons (and some truly horrible ones too) they rarely ever sank to the bottom of the Western Conference.
But they are flirting with the very nadir of the standings right now.
And so it has come to this.
The Los Angeles Lakers (no LeBron) are 2.5-point dogs, at home, to the Sacramento Kings tomorrow.

In fact, things have gotten so bad that the Lakers are now 2.5-point underdogs, at home, against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
It is true that the Lakers will be without LeBron James, which certainly hurts their chances, but the fact that they are so horrid that they are considered underdogs to the Kings is a massive and sad shock.
Is there any chance for this team in 2022-23?
Collapse Of The Lakers
The Kings are definitely doing better than they have in previous years but they are still not one of the best teams in the league.
As for the Lakers, they are sinking like a stone.
Even with James, the team has been a huge mess.
They have not played with efficiency, good shot selection, or urgency.
James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook have participated in nearly every game and yet the team is still collapsing, which shows how deep their problems are.
The Lakers have had many huge, wonderful milestones in their history and many low points best forgotten.
But this may be the lowest of the low.
For a brief moment last week, fans felt like the team could be turning things around following a two-game win streak.
But now the Lakers look lost and lacking again and optimism has never been so low.
