One thing NFL fans look forward to during the summer is the HBO series “Hard Knocks,” which follows one team around during training camp both on and off the field.
It has taken a while for this year’s featured team to be named, and many suggested that the New York Jets, with a new quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, would be a good candidate.
Head coach Robert Saleh said publicly he didn’t want his team to be featured on “Hard Knocks,” but despite his protest, the Jets will on the series this year, according to Adam Schefter.
NFL and NFL Films have selected the New York Jets to serve as this year’s team on Hard Knocks, per sources.

Rodgers has attracted tons of interest and intrigue to the Jets, a team that hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2010 campaign.
He a future Hall-of-Famer, polarizing, and even enigmatic all at the same time, and there is no doubt that “Hard Knocks” will want to focus a lot on him and his views that cause some to intensely dislike him.
But the series also tends to focus a lot on the bit players who are trying desperately to survive their team’s final roster cuts, as well as their families and home life.
Although New York reached the AFC Championship Game in 2009 and 2010, this coming season may be their best shot at winning the Super Bowl since the last time they won it — which happened during the 1968 campaign.
They have added wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, both of whom spent the last couple of seasons with Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers.
But the Jets’ biggest strength is probably their defense, which ranked fourth in points and total yards allowed last year.
