The Miami Heat lost two key pieces this offseason.
Watching Gabe Vincent and Max Strus walk away was a tough blow for Erik Spoelstra’s team, given that they played a big role in their run to the NBA Finals.
With that in mind, they might look to get creative to solve some of their depth issues.
And now that they’re looking to work out a multi-team trade that could land them Damian Lillard, Heat insider Greg Sylvander reports (via NBACentral) that they’re interested in Landry Shamet.
The Miami Heat are interested in Landry Shamet, per @GregSylvander
“As this complicated multi team trade is being worked on to land Lillard in Miami, a player who Miami has expressed interest in, per source, is sharp shooter Landry Shamet who is now in Washington.”

Shamet was sent to the Washington Wizards as part of the Chris Paul trade.
He’s not exactly a good defender, but he’s an above-average playmaker and has shown a streaky shot-making ability throughout the course of his career.
He’s had his ups and downs over the years, but he comes with vast experience as a backup point guard, and his sharpshooting skills could help make up for Vincent’s departure to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Heat currently don’t have that many assets to put deals together, but there are reports of at least five teams interested in smoothing things out to help them land Lillard, so there’s a chance they could also net Shamet and some other lesser pieces and spare parts.
If not, then Spoelstra and Pat Riley will have to continue working on their magic, as they’ve made a living out of finding undrafted players and turning them into capable role players that can give them 25+ minutes in the playoffs.
