The Cleveland Guardians are not having the season they hoped for at the plate.
Their bats have been abysmal as they rank second-to-last in MLB in runs scored with 147.
You could point at many different players who need to step up and play better.
But one position group has been the worst.
The Guardians have gotten nothing from their catchers since the middle of April.
Their catching duo features Mike Zunino and Cam Gallagher, both of whom are struggling to hit the ball.
According to Guardians Perspective, Zunino and Gallagher have combined to go 4-78 since April 15.

They are batting .051 and have a .114 on-base percentage.
That production would be grounds for getting sent down to the minors if the Guardians felt confident in any other catchers they had.
Zunino came to Cleveland this offseason with the idea of being the everyday catcher.
But, his lack of production at the plate is astounding.
He has never hit for a good batting average in his major league career.
In his 11-year career, Zunino is a .199 hitter.
But, he has been known for his home run power, most recently hitting 33 in 2021.
At some point, the Guardians have to look elsewhere at catcher.
One spot they could go is to the minor leagues where they have the seventh-best catching prospect in baseball.
Bo Naylor played five games in the big leagues last year but failed to record a hit.
It might be time to see what their catcher of the future can do for an extended period.
