A beautiful and emotional moment took place at Oracle Park on Monday night during the Cactus League matchup between the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants.
Veteran right-hander Sergio Romo, who had been signed to a minor league deal by the Giants to finish out his career where he started, took the mound one last time.
After facing a few batters, he was removed by his former teammate and Giants legend Hunter Pence, who rallied the crowd before giving his friend a hug.
As the crowd cheered, Romo’s eyes filled with tears and he tipped his cap to the San Francisco faithful one last time.
On Twitter, the Giants posted a photo of the moment and thanked Romo for everything he had done for the organization and the City of San Francisco.

The 40-year-old spent the bulk of his career with the Giants, winning three World Series titles with the team from 2010-14.
In 2012, he stepped up as the team’s closer when Brian Wilson went down with an injury.
All he did was close out the NLDS, NLCS, and World Series.
So naturally, it was only fitting that he returned to San Francisco to finish things off.
And the San Francisco crowd gave him a nice warm hand as he walked off the mound one last time and tipped his cap to the fans after hugging his former Giants teammate in Pence.
Ultimately, it was the perfect storybook ending to a solid career for the veteran right-hander, who posted a 3.21 ERA over 15 seasons.
