The Chicago Cubs have been one of baseball’s most recent success stories.
The team was expected to be aggressive sellers this year at the trade deadline, but got hot and ultimately reversed course on their strategy.
The Cubs have been winning games recently and have proven to be a major threat to win the National League Central, something they have not accomplished in a full season since 2017.
On Tuesday, the North Siders defeated the slumping New York Mets by a final score of 3-2 and pulled into a second-place tie with the Cincinnati Reds.
On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network noted just how different things have been for the Cubs since the start of July and how they have played much better baseball.
The @Cubs are 21-13 since July 1, second only to the Dodgers in the National League over that time.

Since July 1, the Cubs own a record of 21-13.
Only the Los Angeles Dodgers own a better mark in the National League over that stretch.
This is certainly good news for the Cubs, who came into the season with expectations to be better than they were in 2022, yet have still exceeded those expectations.
By virtue of winning percentage, the Cubs hold the second-place edge over the Reds in the NL Central and are only 1.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the top spot.
They are also the only team in the NL Central with a positive run differential.
The Cubs own a mark of +67 in that category.
Soon, the Cubs may be the ones standing at the top of the NL Central, as the Brewers are currently sliding.
