While Kyler Murray‘s contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals is buzz-worthy, new reports show something very concerning.
As with most contracts, the devil is in the details.
This contract between the star QB and his team is no different.
After a long and drawn out offseason of contract talks, the two finally made a deal before the end of July.
However, a little something in Murray’s contract shows the Cardinals lack trust in their QB.
So why do they lack trust in him and what is in his contract that shows this lack of trust?
Murray’s Contract Being Void If He Doesn’t Study Film Shows They Don’t Trust Him
When the Cardinals added in a mandatory independent film study by Murray every week, it shows they don’t trust him.
I have a lot to say about Kyler Murray and this UNPRECEDENTED “Independent Study” addendum🤦🏽♂️
Organization doesn’t trust him??
Did they purposefully add the Video game language??
The ENTIRE contract can be void!?#FullCourtPressPodcast is set for an interesting discussion – Nana pic.twitter.com/ieeeySb6sW— The Full Court Press Podcast (@FCP_Podcast2203) July 26, 2022
This is unprecedented and also a first in the NFL for a player of his status.
However, it seems like the Cardinals QB is game for this in his contract, and we aren’t talking video games.
There’s no way that he didn’t know about this before signing, so it would show he’s not worried about this being part of his contract.
But if he didn’t, then he could be in for a world of trouble.
While the language of the contract is now the newest buzz with him, it should be about how he performs during the 2022 NFL season.
Will Studying Film Give Murray The Edge He’s Been Missing In Games?
If the problem with the Cardinals starting QB has been a lack of film study, could him doing this four hours of studying help him?
Looking at how it was a tremendous help for Tom Brady during his career, it could give him an edge.
However, it’s all in his ability to use this film knowledge and apply it on the football field.
A move to force him to watch film wouldn’t be helpful if he didn’t keep the knowledge he’d learn from doing this.
It’s like being back in high school all over again for Murray.
But the grades will come from his wins and losses during the season.
This could give him that push to get his first MVP title, something he was a contender for early during the 2021 NFL season.
There’s a reason Kliff Kingsbury & Kyler Murray are leading contenders for Coach of the Year & MVP.
They came to AZ after the 2018 season to revive the team’s offense.

With the weapons he has on offense, this film study part of his contract could be what he needs in 2022.
Are The Cardinals Potential Super Bowl Contenders?
While the Cardinals have a long way to go before becoming Super Bowl contenders, they are priming the pump on a run.
However, it will require the team to retool their defense after this season and keep weapons for Murray on offense.
But with this additional part of Murray’s contract coming out, it makes some feel like they have a better chance than before.
With 2022 seeing the Cardinals with plenty of top-tier talent, it’s easy to see them being contenders.
While they have the pieces there, they need for them to work together for that Super Bowl dream to become a reality one day.
