The 2022 edition of the Atlanta Braves might be better than the 2021 one.
That would be saying a lot, since last year’s had Freddie Freeman and won the World Series trophy.
However, at least during regular season play, the 2022 Braves are showing they still belong in the elite.
They annihilated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday afternoon, winning 14-2 and putting on quite an offensive display.
That was their 78th win, and they are officially 30 games over .500.
It has been a while since they have won so many regular season games.
“The #Braves are 30 games over .500 for the first time since the conclusion of the 2019 season,” Braves reporter Grant McAuley tweeted.

Atlanta Will Be A Tough Foe In The Postseason
With a shortened calendar, Atlanta (or any other team) wasn’t going to finish 30 games over .500; and last year, they virtually made the playoffs in the last month of the season.
This iteration of the Braves is more consistent and is getting a lot of production from young players, confirming their place among the MLB franchises with the best outlook for the future.
Ronald Acuna Jr., Vaughn Grissom, Michael Harris III, Kyle Wright, Matt Olson, Max Fried, Spencer Strider, William Contreras, Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies are all under 30, and some of them are even under 25.
The Braves are making it known that they have what it takes to make a serious run at the title for the second season in a row.
The National League is full of top-tier teams, particularly the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers, but Atlanta can very well measure up to them over a short postseason series.
The 2022 MLB playoffs will be extremely exciting.
