The Los Angeles Angels proved their desire to win late on Wednesday when it was announced that Shohei Ohtani would not be traded at this year’s deadline.
After Tom Verducci revealed that bit of news, the Halos went out and added right-hander Lucas Giolito and reliever Reynaldo Lopez in a trade with the Chicago White Sox.
This is one of many recent trades GM Perry Minasian has made that have helped the Angels strengthen their roster.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale made a list of all of his notable subtractions and all of his notable additions, which show just how many truly impactful moves Minasian has made.

Last year, the Angels shipped both Noah Syndergaard and Brandon Marsh off to the Philadelphia Phillies and also sent Raisel Iglesias to the Atlanta Braves.
This year, they sent catcher Edgar Quero and left-hander Ky Bush to the White Sox in exchange for Lopez and Giolito.
All the activity has seen the team add players such as catcher Logan O’Hoppe, shortstop Zach Neto, right-hander Ben Joyce, and outfielder Mickey Moniak.
O’Hoppe has a future at the catcher position, while Neto has proven to be a viable young shortstop.
Joyce has proven to be a solid arm out of their bullpen while Moniak, a former top prospect with the Phillies, has finally reached his potential with his new team.
Adding Giolito and Lopez to the list of impactful acquisitions only continues Minasian’s trend of making such moves and strengthening the roster of the Halos.
