McClung had only been with the 76ers’ organization for just a week and while he will no longer player for Philly, he might not be going far.
It is expected that he will join Philly’s G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats.
This is the latest move for McClung and it might not be the one he wanted but he still holds a lot of potential and promise and could become a legitimate NBA star.
McClung’s Moves
McClung was an undrafted rookie back at the start of the 2021-22 season.
He then signed a few 10-day contracts with the Chicago Bulls at the end of the year as COVID swept through the league and required teams to sign hardship contracts to fill their rosters.
McClung then moved over to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played only one game and wasn’t extended a qualifying offer.
The 23-year-old guard made some noise with the Lakers’ G League team and was actually named the NBAGL Rookie of the Year.
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised McClung after he played a bit for his team before being waived.
It’s clear to see that McClung has talent and he is a great, energetic classic type of point guard that does really well throughout the league.
However, it just seems like there isn’t room for him – at least not right now.
McClung has proven himself in the G League multiple times before so you can expect he will do that again.
Maybe this time, it will lead to a permanent position on an NBA team.
