The San Francisco 49ers defense is having a tremendous season.
They lead the NFL in six different marquee defensive statistics.

For starters, the 49ers defense is only allowing 15.8 points per game this season and is only allowing nine points per game in their last three contests.
This defensive dominance has led to the 49ers leading their division, and are one of the NFC’s strongest contenders.
How Did They Get Here?
In the era of Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers usually have one of the top defenses in the league.
However, this year feels even more dominant than most.
Let’s take a look at the defensive roster for this 49ers team.
One of the most dominant players in the NFL, defensive end Nick Bosa, is playing at a very high level.
Through 11 games, Bosa has recorded 36 total tackles, 14.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
Bosa is also joined in dominance by linebacker Fred Warner and cornerback Talanoa Hufanga.
Warner has achieved 84 total tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception.
He is known to cause havoc to all he encounters, and makes his presence known every single week.
Hufanga has 66 total tackles, four interceptions, one forced fumble, and one sack.
The best part of this 49ers defense is that they’re deep at every position.
Although Hufanda, Bosa, and Warner are certainly three of their stars, the 49ers have players at every position that make a difference every week.
Besides the Minnesota Vikings, the 49ers are certainly a team to watch in the NFC.
