If you were to tell a member of the San Francisco 49ers in August that Brock Purdy would be their starting quarterback heading into the playoffs, they probably would have laughed in your face, if not worse.
It’s no joke.
Purdy has led the 49ers to new heights as their starter and has helped them tie a franchise record that had stood since 1997.

The 49ers have won nine straight games.
This is not only the best winning streak in the NFL, but it ties a franchise mark for most consecutive games won.
On Sunday, the 49ers are slated to face off against the Arizona Cardinals and will have a great chance to extend this winning streak to ten games, as well as put themselves into a position to secure the number one overall playoff seed as well.
If the 49ers can secure a first-round bye, they will also host any and all playoff games that they are a part of as well.
Given that Purdy is a rookie and doesn’t have any playoff experience up to this point, an extra week to watch film and prepare for their opponent could be a real difference-maker in the 49ers’ playoff success.
The 49ers’ defense has carried them throughout the year, as they are the league leader in the fewest points allowed per game.
Purdy will almost certainly be playing with a bit of a cushion from their elite defense.
Will he be able to lead their offense to victories in the playoffs?
