Even though they’re not the winningest franchises in NFL history, the San Francisco 49ers sure know a thing or two about postseason success.
They’ve won five Super Bowl rings in seven trips to the ultimate stage, with their last two appearances as their only losses.
But more than that, they’ve been close to the big game more times than any other franchise in league history, as they’re set to make their 18th Conference Championship appearance.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, considering this team has had some of the greatest players of all time, like Joe Montana, Terrell Owens, Jerry Rice, and Steve Young, among many others.
Of course, their 7-10 record at this stage isn’t exactly encouraging, but getting that far deserves plenty of praise nonetheless.
Also, this season has been nothing short of historic for the Niners, a team that closed the season out with a 10-0 record with their third-string rookie QB behind center for the final eight games of the season.
Now, they’ll put all that on the line against the finest team in the league: the Philadelphia Eagles.
More than that, they’ll do that on the road in arguably the most hostile city in terms of sports fans, complicating that task even further.
If that wasn’t enough, a win over the Eagles would be rewarded with either a rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs or a matchup versus Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, so the Niners would still have plenty of work ahead of them.
