The Miami Dolphins, along with their entire fanbase, can breathe a sigh of relief.
After their Monday Night loss to the Washington Commanders, the Philadelphia Eagles are no longer undefeated, meaning the 1972 Dolphins’ claim to fame is still alive.

The ’72 Dolphins are still the only team in NFL history to go an entire season without losing a single game.
Will There Ever Be Another?
This begs a very important question.
Will another NFL team have an undefeated season?
With the way that the NFL is constantly changing, and due to the number of injuries that seem to occur each year, it’s looking to be less and more likely of a possibility.
Sure, there have been teams that have appeared to be close.
In the last ten years, there have been two teams that have strung along 10+ consecutive wins.
In 2020, the Pittsburgh Steelers went on an 11-0 run to start the season but were regarded as one of the worst 11-0 teams in NFL history.
They were promptly beaten in the first round of the playoffs that year.
Then, there was the 2015 Carolina Panthers.
With MVP Cam Newton at the helm, the Panthers looked like they were going to complete the job, going 14-0.
However, like so many before them, they fell subject to a loss, just due to the nature of NFL parity.
While this team made it to the Super Bowl, they were taken down by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
In NFL history, there have been just four total teams to make it through 14 games without a loss.
It seems inevitable to lose a game or two throughout the season.
Will we see another team like the ’72 Dolphins?
Likely, not.
But it sure would be a sight to behold.
