The Houston Texans are looking to build a winning culture and rebound from a 3-13-1 finish last season.
They haven’t made the playoffs since the 2019 season, but they have a new quarterback in C.J. Stroud, who was the No. 2 pick in April’s draft and is thought to have tremendous potential.
Houston also has a rookie wide receiver in John Metchie III, who was a second-round draft pick last year.
He was unable to play for all of last season after he was diagnosed with leukemia, and although he admitted there was some doubt early on that he could continue to play football, he said he leaned on his faith to get him through his recovery, via Arye Pulli on Twitter.

Metchie put up 1,142 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his third and final season with the University of Alabama, and Houston is hoping he will develop into a difference-maker for them.
They are at the ground floor of their rebuilding process, a process that began in earnest last offseason when they traded star quarterback Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns.
Stroud threw for 41 touchdowns last season with the Ohio State University Buckeyes, and the year before he amassed 44 touchdown passes while leading his team to a come-from-behind win in the Rose Bowl in which he threw six touchdown passes.
New head coach DeMeco Ryans comes from the San Francisco 49ers, and he is looking to establish a winning attitude in Houston.
Since it was established for the 2002 season, the franchise has won just four playoff games and hasn’t made it to the AFC Championship Game.
