Texans Speak Out Against Latest Allegations Surrounding The Franchise

The Houston Texans could never seem to get a break.

It started with the exodus of top talent from the squad that turned them from division champions to cellar dwellers.

Things turned for the worst when then-general manager Bill O’Brien traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.

Since then, the Texans had consecutive four-win seasons and they could be in for more on-field struggles.

They will have a hard time competing since their three division rivals have improved their rosters.

Then, they had to deal with Deshaun Watson‘s trade request.

But little did they know that more trouble was coming due to their quarterback’s legal battles.

Watson had a significant win when it was ruled that he won’t be charged criminally.

However, the Texans are not yet out of the woods because they could still be implicated in connection with their former player’s legal situation.

Tony Buzbee, the lawyer for the victims, revealed that they have filed a case against the Texans for alleged consent of Watson’s actions.

Buzbee said in a recent statement, “Suffice it to say, the overwhelming evidence collected indicating the Houston Texans enabled Watson’s behavior is incredibly damning.”

To which, the Texans responded, as CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson shared.

#Texans Statement:
“We are aware of the lawsuit filed against us today. Since March 2021, we have fully supported and complied with law enforcement and the various investigations. We will continue to take the necessary steps to address the allegations against our organization.”

The team argues that they have supported and complied with law enforcement and various investigations regarding the matter.

Likewise, not allowing Watson to play in 2021 could play a critical role in his impending suspension.

The Texans Have Already Penalized Watson

Watson’s side could argue that sitting out the entire 2021 season is already enough punishment for his actions.

They could play it out that Watson need not sit out the 2022 season because he already did it last year.

It remains to be seen if that train of thought will stick with the NFL.

Still, it does not absolve the Texans from charges.
