The Houston Texans are coming off back-to-back terrible seasons, and the front office was tasked with the tough challenge of starting a rebuild.
GM Nick Caserio signed several not-so-known veterans to short-term deals in an attempt to establish a winning culture right away, and while several of those have already left the team, others have actually embraced that role and become integral parts of the organization.
That includes DT Maliek Collins, who has reportedly impressed new HC DeMeco Ryans with his work ethic, up to the point where he earned himself a two-year contract extension.

The deal took place days ago but it finally became official on Tuesday.
He’s set to make $23 million with base salaries of $8 million and $9.5 million.
Since joining the organization in 2021, Collins has logged 66 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, six sacks, one forced fumble, five fumble recoveries, three passes defended, and one interception across 30 games.
The Texans have done a solid job this offseason of trying and keeping their veterans while also obviously boosting their youth movement.
Young star Will Anderson Jr. is expected to make an impact right out of the gate, and having some older guys to help him and teach him the ropes of the NFL lifestyle will be key to establishing a winning culture and helping him out in the early stages of his development.
