The Miami Dolphins seek to give their starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa some competition.
They went and signed free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater during this offseason.

In his career, Bridgewater was a starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and Denver Broncos.
He was also a backup quarterback for the New Orleans Saints behind Drew Brees.
Coming into the 2022 season, it looks he will be back at the backup role at quarterback.
However, that could change depending on what happens over the next six months.
Bridgewater Brings Experience To The Quarterback Position
One thing that is valuable in the NFL is experience.
Bridgewater has this at his position through his years in the NFL.
That will give some competition for Tagovailoa, who is entering his third season in the NFL.
Miami can use the experience of Bridgewater to help Tagovailoa improve.
If he is serious about becoming a better quarterback in the NFL, the addition can bring healthy competition to the quarterback position.
Bridgewater Might Get A Starting Role If Tagovailoa Gets Injured Again
One of the problems Tagovailoa had last season was staying healthy.
It can be something to look at going into the 2022 season for the Dolphins.
It can also be the reason that Miami brought in Bridgewater.
The team has missed the playoffs by only one game in their last two seasons.
They have also improved the offensive line to help their chances of a playoff run.
The team also acquired Tyreek Hill from the Chiefs in a blockbuster trade.

When you look at all the variables, it seems as if the Dolphins made the signing of Bridgewater to help them stay in playoff contention.
The Dolphins Want To Make The Playoffs In 2022
With every signing and trade that Miami has done this offseason, they are looking to make the playoffs.

They have two good quarterbacks, one with experience and one starting to grow into his position in the NFL.
They got Hill at receiver, Terron Armstead at offensive tackle, and Raheem Mostert at running back.
The team also retained most of their defensive players from last season.
The Dolphins are setting up a playoff run and have the pieces in place for that run.
The Bridgewater signing also gives them a backup plan if they need someone else under center.
With all the major players coming over to the Dolphins, the playoff dream could become a reality.
Will Hill Be The Biggest Piece In A Playoff Race Puzzle For Miami?
No matter who is at quarterback, Hill gives any NFL quarterback the chance to have good numbers.
The Dolphins already had their quarterback and signed their running back during the offseason.
But Hill gives the Dolphins offense an added bit of electricity at wide receiver.
With Hill being the clear number one, this allows season year receiver Jaylen Waddle to go through defenses unnoticed.
Hill will have defenses focusing on him, which gives Waddle more chances of getting open downfield.
Together with the running game, the two help the Dolphins’ playoff chances by leaps and bounds.
