The Philadelphia Eagles first suffered a tough loss Thursday night in primetime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Just when fans felt things couldn’t get any worse, the team decided to trade Zach Ertz to the Arizona Cardinals.
The news broke Friday morning, with the return to Philly being a fifth-round pick and rookie cornerback Tay Gowan.
Ertz is obviously the focus here, but Gowan is a rookie who was just drafted by the Cardinals in the sixth round.
He offered up his reaction to the trade via Twitter.
Thank you for everything AZ …🤞🏽 until next time

This is going to be a cross-country move, but it should mean Gowan gets some time on the field in 2021.
A Brand New Opportunity
Gowan was able to make the team out of camp, but has yet to play for the Cardinals this season.
The Eagles clearly had their eye on him and if he wasn’t going to play in Arizona, this trade represents a golden opportunity.
Some fans may note that he is going from a Super Bowl contender to a team that is now trending in the wrong direction.
Well, if his goal is to play and one day get a big contract, this is the best possible situation for him.
He can show up in Philadelphia and get on the field to prove what he can do.
His Unique Path
Gowan was drafted out of UCF after opting out of the 2020 college football season.
The fact he was still drafted proved he was on the radar of NFL teams for some time.

In total, he spent time at three colleges and made a name for himself at UCF.
His habit of switching homes continues, although this time it is not of his own choosing.
The main focus in this deal is Ertz.
However, Gowan becoming a regular contributor for the Eagles would constitute a win in this deal.
