The Philadelphia Eagles are locked into the No. 2 seed in the NFC and have decided to sit both starting quarterback Jalen Hurts and backup quarterback Kenny Pickett for the team’s Week 18 finale against the New York Giants.
That means third-string quarterback Tanner McKee will get his first-career NFL start.
McKee played in last week’s win over the Dallas Cowboys and had some success.
He completed 75% of his passes and threw two touchdowns.
The 24-year-old spoke before the Philadelphia media on Friday as he prepared for his first start.
“Super excited. I feel very ready and very prepared…I don’t think anything is different,” McKee said.

This could be a very nice moment for the second-year player out of Stanford.
When you play on a Super Bowl-ready team with a star quarterback like Jalen Hurts, it is unlikely that you will get a ton of reps.
McKee has the opportunity to have a great moment in his young career.
If you are an NFL fan, you cannot help but feel excited for McKee.
This is an opportunity for him to show the rest of the league his talent.
It will also be interesting to see how the team looks without all the starters playing on the field together.
Remember, the Eagles will be playing in the first round of the playoffs and do not get an opportunity to sit during a bye week.
That is why head coach Nick Sirianni will be under pressure to ensure his team is ready to go two weekends from now.
