The Pittsburgh Steelers have a huge void to fill at quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger retired following the 2021 season.
The search for his successor ensues and head coach Mike Tomlin stated that Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins must prove that they deserve to be Roethlisberger’s heir.
However, reigning Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt believes that their next starting signal-caller will come from another team.
TJ Watt is the latest member of the Steelers organization to intimate that the 2022 starting quarterback isn't on their current roster. No one has given Mediore Mason a vote of confidence. Rooney didn't. Tomlin didn't. Players havent. Thank goodness.

That tweet from Pittsburgh sports show host Andrew Fillipponi shows that no one in the organization believes that Rudolph can fill Roethlisberger’s shoes.
Watt is the latest advocate of getting a quarterback elsewhere which will continue their status as legitimate contenders.
The Steelers were lucky to sneak into the playoffs in Roethlisberger’s final year.
Despite the struggles they faced, Pittsburgh played in the Super Wild Card Weekend but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs by a huge margin.
It was evident in that game that Father Time caught up with their longtime quarterback and change is imminent.
Unfortunately, the depth chart behind Roethlisberger is shallow.
The Steelers Are An Attractive Destination For A Quarterback
There’s still uncertainty on where quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers will play in 2022.
Perhaps they can consider Pittsburgh for several reasons.
First, Tomlin is one of the game’s best coaches because he has no losing record in 15 seasons.
Second, they already have a decent receiving and running corps with Najee Harris, Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, and Pat Freiermuth.
Third, the Steelers have an elite defense led by Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
They might be one quarterback away from being a powerhouse in the loaded AFC.
Sadly, not even Watt knows what will happen at quarterback.
TJ Watt on the QB Position: “We’ll see what happens at the quarterback position, I trust the guys upstairs to be able to bring a guy in that can win us some games, and I’m gonna do everything in my power to take care of things on the defensive side of the ball.” #Steelers #NFL

All he can declare as per the tweet by Blitzburgh is that he has faith that the Steelers front office can bring someone who can make them competitive.
When that happens, he will be the one steering the wheel for the defense.
