The Pittsburgh Steelers have the benefit of potentially being able to fly under the radar heading into the 2023 NFL season, with the three other teams in the AFC North grabbing all the headlines as potential playoff teams, if not Super Bowl contenders.
However, as the start of the upcoming season draws near, the Steelers are getting more exposure due to the play of up-and-coming wide receiver George Pickens, who has had some jaw-dropping plays recently.
Although no one is completely sold on starting quarterback Kenny Pickett yet, as it remains uncertain whether he’s the true successor to Ben Roethlisberger under center in Pittsburgh, the second-year quarterback has the luxury of playing with Pickens, who has been making him look really good lately.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” recently, defensive superstar T.J. Watt was asked about Pickens and what he thinks about the up-and-comer.

For a player as physically gifted as Watt to call Pickens a “genetic freak,” it’s pretty telling as to what the Steelers may have in their possession as Pittsburgh tries to turn the corner and get back to being a contender in the AFC.
Pickens could be the breakout star for the Steelers during the 2023 campaign, as he is quickly becoming a top target for Pickett, which is a great sign because if those two get on the same page, Pittsburgh may be a dark horse in the AFC during the upcoming season.
Only time will tell how good Pickens really is, but all signs point to the Steelers getting a gem.
